DEDICATED TO CH UNIQUE BEST OF ISLAND IPO1 ZTP-V1A "Great Dobermans are often not often easy to handle, they have dignity, pride and Big Egos, they can also have strange idiosyncrasies and quirks. Dominate, Incorrigible Hard dogs certainly do exist, we have certainly owned a few, unfortunately they are only successful with handlers so skillful, patient and courageous that then and only then can their full potential be unlocked to show the true brilliance, spirit, loyalty and courage of their canine best friends."
I had given orders which brought death to thousands. Yet here I was stirred, profoundly stirred, stirred to tears. And by what? By the grief of one dog. – Napoleon Bonaparte
In Memory of and Surviving the Loss of your Dog
When you bring a pet into your life, you begin a journey - a journey that will bring you more love and devotion than you have ever known, yet also test your strength and courage. If you allow, the journey will teach you many things, about life, about yourself, and most of all, about love. You will come away changed forever, for one soul cannot touch another without leaving its mark. Along the way, you will learn much about savoring life's simple pleasures -jumping in leaves, snoozing in the sun, the joys of puddles, and even the satisfaction of a good scratch behind the ears. If you spend much time outside, you will be taught how to truly experience every element, for no rock, leaf, or log will go unexamined, no rustling bush will be overlooked, and even the very air will be inhaled, pondered, and noted as being full of valuable information. Your pace may be slower except when heading home to the food dish - but you will become a better naturalist, having been taught by an expert in the field. Too many times we hike on automatic pilot, our goal being to complete the trail rather than enjoy the journey. We miss the details - the colorful mushrooms on the rotting log, the honeycomb in the old maple snag, the hawk feather caught on a twig. Once we walk as a dog does, we discover a whole new world. We stop; we browse the landscape, we kick over leaves, peek in tree holes, look up, down, all around. And we learn what any dog knows: that nature has created a marvelously complex world that is full of surprises, that each cycle of the seasons bring ever changing wonders, each day an essence all its own. Even from indoors you will find yourself more attuned to the world around you. You will find yourself watching summer insects collecting on a screen or noting the flick and flash of fireflies through the dark. You will stop to observe the swirling dance of windblown leaves, or sniff the air after a rain. It does not matter that there is no objective in this; the point is in the doing, in not letting life's most important details slip by. You will find yourself doing silly things that your pet-less friends might not understand: spending thirty minutes in the grocery aisle buying dog birthday treats, or driving around the block an extra time because your pet enjoys the ride. You will roll in the snow, wrestle with chewy toys, bounce little rubber balls till your eyes cross, and even run around the house trailing your bathrobe tie - with a puppy in hot pursuit - all in the name of love. Your house will become muddier and hairier. You will wear less dark clothing and buy more lint rollers. You may find dog biscuits in your pocket or purse. You will learn the true measure of love - the steadfast, undying kind that says, "It doesn't matter where we are or what we do, or how life treats us as long as we are together." Respect this always. It is the most precious gift any living soul can give another. You will not find it often among the human race (so true!). And you will learn humility. The look in my dog's eyes often made me feel ashamed. Such joy and love at my presence. She saw not some flawed human who could be cross and stubborn, moody or rude, but only her wonderful companion. Or maybe she saw those things and dismissed them as mere human foibles, not worth considering, and so chose to love me anyway. If you pay attention and learn well, when the journey is done, you will be not just a better person, but the person your pet always knew you to be the one they were proud to call beloved friend. I must caution you that this journey is not without pain. Like all paths of true love, the pain is part of loving. For as surely as the sun sets, one day your dear animal companion will follow a trail you cannot yet go down. And you will have to find the strength and love to let them go. A pet's time on earth is far too short - especially for those that love them. We borrow them, really, just for awhile, and during these brief years they are generous enough to give us all their love, every inch of their spirit and heart, until one day there is nothing left. The young pup of boundless energy wakes up stiff and lame, the muzzle now gray. Deep down we somehow always knew that this journey would end. We knew that if we gave our hearts they would be broken. But give them we must for it is all they ask in return. When the time comes, and the road curves ahead to a place we cannot see, we give one final gift and let them run on ahead - young and whole once more. "Godspeed, good friend," we say, until our journey comes full circle and our paths cross again. by Crystal Ward Kent
When your days are dark and gray, filled with rain and tears I hope you can find some solace in your grief here from a few of the quotes that have helped us over the years when trying to deal with our grief and despair.
If you found this page because you have recently lost your beloved pet, I sincerely wish you you peace during this trying time....
When Tomorrow Starts Without Me When tomorrow starts without me, And I'm not there to see; The sun will rise and find your eyes All filled with tears for me. I wish so much you wouldn't cry The way you did today, I know how much you loved me, As much as I love you, And each time that you think of me I know you'll miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand That an angel came and called my name And petted me with her hand. She said my place was ready, In Heaven far above, And that I'd have to leave behind All those I dearly love. But, as I turned to heel away, A tear fell from my eye, For all my life I never thought That I would have to die. I had so much to live for, So many sits and downs to do, It seemed almost impossible, That I was leaving you. I thought about our lives together, I know you must be sad, I thought of all the love we shared, And all the fun we had. Remember when I'd nudge your hand, And poke you with my nose? The frisbee I would gladly chase, The bad guy, I'd "bark and hold" If I could relive yesterday, Just even for awhile, I'd wag my tail and kiss you, Just so I could see you smile. But then I fully realized, That this could never be For emptiness and memories Will take the place of me. And when I thought of treats and toys I might miss come tomorrow, I thought of you and when I did, My dog-heart filled with sorrow. But when I walked through Heaven's gate; And felt so much at home; As God looked down and smiled at me, From His beautiful throne. He said,"This is eternity", And now we welcome you, Today your life on earth is past, But here is starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, But today will always last; For you see, each days' the same, There's no longing for the past. Now you have been so faithful So trusting, loyal and true; Though there were times you did things, You knew you shouldn't do But good dogs are forgiven, And now at last you're free; So won't you sit here by my side, And wait right here with me?" So when tomorrow starts without me, Don't think we're far apart, For every time you think of me, I'm right there, in your heart.
God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around him and whispered, "come with Me". With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw his joy fade away, although we couldn't bear to lose him, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working paws laid to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best...
For "T-Bone" A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam. And for a brief moment it's glory and beauty belong to the world. But then it flies on again And though we wish it could have stayed,We feel so lucky to have seen it. author unknown
When I must leave you for a little while Please do not grieve and shed wild tears And hug your sorrow to you through the years But start out bravely with a gallant smile;
Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near; And never, never be afraid to die, For I am waiting for you till they day you die!
In Memory of CH Kamakazze
I'll lend you for a little while My grandest foal, He said. And morn for when he's dead.
It may be one or twenty years, Or days or months, you see. But will you, till I take him back Take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, And should his stay be brief You'll have treasured memories As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, Since all from earth return. But there are lessons taught on earth I want this foal to learn.
I've looked the wide world over In my search for teachers true. And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes With trust, I have selected you.
Now will you give him your total love? Nor think the labor vain, Nor hate me when I come To take him back again? I know you'll give him tenderness And love will bloom each day. And for the happiness you've known Forever grateful stay.
But should I come and call for him Much sooner than you'd planned You'll brave the bitter grief that comes And someday you'll understand
IF I KNEW
If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time that I would see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word, so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time, I could spare an extra minute or two, to stop and say that "I love you," Instead of assuming that you KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share your day, well, I'm sure you'll have so many more, so I can let this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight, and we always get a second chance to make everything all right.
There will always be another day to say our "I love you's" And certainly there's another chance to say our "Anything I can do's."
But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get, I'd like to say how much I love you and hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike, And today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved ones tight.
So, if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today? For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, a kiss, And you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today, whisper in their ear, Tell them how much you love them, And that you'll always hold them dear.
***** IF IT SHOULD BE
If it should be that I grow weak And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done For this last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad I understand, Don't let grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest, Your love for me must stand the test.
We've had so many happy years, What is to come can hold no fears,
You'd not want me to suffer so, The time has come to let me go.
Take me where my need they'll tend, And please stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me. Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time that you will see, The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved, From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Please do not grieve it must be you, Who has this painful thing to do,
We've been so close, we two, these years Don't let your heart hold back its tears.
For I am now in a better place, And will be waiting to see your happy face.
So when you cross that final bridge, Look for me... I'll be standing next to the fridge.
She Is Gone (He Is Gone)
You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has lived You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her Or you can be full of the love that you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday You can remember her and only that she is gone Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on. David Harkins PRAYER
"Prayer is the answer to every problem in life. It puts us in tune with Divine Wisdom which
knows how to adjust everything perfectly.
So often we do not pray in certain situations because from out standpoint the outlook
is hopeless. But nothing is impossible with God.
Nothing is so entangled that it cannot be remedied. No human relationship is too strained
for God to bring about reconciliation and understanding.
No habit is so deeply rooted that it cannot be overcome. No one is so weak that he cannot
be strong. No one is so ill that he cannot be healed. No mind is so dull that it cannot
be made brilliant.
Whatsoever we need or desire, if we trust God, He will supply it. If anything is causing
worry and anxiety, let us stop rehearsing the difficulty and trust God's healing, love, and power."
I've learned-that it's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts. I've learned-that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences. I've learned-that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you'd better know something. I've learned-that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best that others can do. I've learned-that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be. I've learned-that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them. I've learned-that you can keep going long after you THINK you can't. I've learned-that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel. I've learned-that money is a lousy way of keeping score. I've learned-that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time. I've learned-that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up. I've learned-that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel. I've learned-that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love. I've learned-that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. I've learned-that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them, and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated. I've learned-that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that. I've learned-that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself. I've learned-that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief. I've learned-that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become. I've learned-that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do. I've learned-that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change. I've learned-that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever. I've learned-that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different. I've learned-that no matter how you try to protect your children, they will eventually get hurt and you will hurt in the process. I've learned-that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you. I've learned-that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help. I've learned-that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being. I've learned-that the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon. I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them. I've learned-that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back. I've learned-that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it. I've learned-that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life. I've learned-that either you control your attitude or it controls you.
Good -bye my trusted and beloved friend.... Well done, well done...Just rest now.
Don't cry for the horses That life has set free A million white horses forever to be.
Don't cry for the horses Now in God's hands As they dance and they prance To a heavenly band.
They were ours as a gift But never to keep As they close their eyes Forever to sleep
Their spirits unbound On silver wings they fly A million white horses Against the blue sky.
Look up into heaven You'll see them above The horses we loved The horses we lost
Manes and tails flowing They gallop through time They were never yours They were never mine.
Don't cry for the horses They'll be back someday When our day has come They'll show us the way.
Do you hear the soft nicker Close to your ear? Don't cry for the horses Love the ones that are here. (author unknown) *****
Dearest Creator in Heaven, give me strength to guide my horse. Make my hands soft & my head clear. Let my horse understand me & I him. My heart you have blessed with a special love of these animals, let me never lose sight of it.
My soul you have gifted with a deep need for them, let that need never lessen. Always let my breath catch as the sun gleams on an elegant head.
Always may my throat tighten at the sound of gentle nicker. Let the scent of fresh hay & a new bag of grain be sweet to me. Let the soft touch of a warm nose on my hand always bring a smile. I adore the joy of a warm day on the farm.
The grace & splendor of a running horse, the thunder of it's hooves makes my eyes burn & my heart soar, let it always be so. Dearest Creator grant me patience, for horses are harnessed wind & wind can be flighty. Let me not frighten or harm them, instead show me ways to understand them. Above all, dear Creator, fill my life with them. When I pass from this world, send my soul to no heaven without them. For this love you have given me graces my existence & I shall cherish it & praise You for it for all time.
Stay away from the love of money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,
"I will never fail you. I will never forsake you." That is why we can say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper, so I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?"
Hebrews 13: 3 - 8
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
Some Sage advice from Will Rogers
1. Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.
2. Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.
3. There are 2 theories to arguing with a woman...neither works.
4. Never miss a good chance to shut up.
5. Always drink upstream from the herd.
6. If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.
7. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket.
8. There are three kinds of men. The ones that learn by reading, and the few
who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence.
9. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from badjudgment.
10. If you're riding' ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it's still there.
11. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it back.
12. AND FINALLY: After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good
he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him...
The moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming... 'WOW! WHAT A RIDE!!!'"
"Live, Love, Laugh and Be Happy!!"
Courage is being scared to death--and saddling up anyway.
Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong. Keep skunks and bankers and lawyers at a distance. Life is simpler when you plow around the stump. A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor. Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled. Meanness don't jes' happen overnight. Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads. Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you. It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge. You cannot unsay a cruel word. Every path has a few puddles. When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty. The best sermons are lived, not preached. Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway. Don't judge folks by their relatives. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time. Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none. Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance. If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'. Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got. The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror
every mornin'. Always drink upstream from the herd. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in. If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.
I shall wear diamonds And a wide brimmed straw hat With Silver and Leather on it And I shall spend my social security On white wine and carrots And sit in the alley of my barn And listen to my horses breathe. I will sneak out in the middle of a summers night And ride the sorrel colt Across the moonstruck meadow. If my old bones will allow And when people come to call I will smile and nod As I walk them past the gardens to the barn And show, instead, the beauty growing here In stalls fresh-lined with straw I will learn to shovel and sweat and Wear hay in my hair as if it were a jewel. And I will be an embarrassment to all Who look down on me. Who have not yet found the peace in being free To love a horse as a friend, A friend who waits at midnight hour With muzzle and nicker and patient eyes For the kind of woman I will be When I am Old.
One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.
They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
"It was great, Dad."
"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
"Oh yeah," said the son.
"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.
The son answered: "I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.
We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.
Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."
The boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added,? "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are Isn't perspective a wonderful thing?
Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.
Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends!

You never know when God is going to bless you! Good things happen when you least expect them to.
Dear Lord, I thank You for this day. I thank You for me being able to walk, talk, see and to hear this morning. I am blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.
Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you.
I ask now for Your forgiveness. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You. Please broaden my mind so that I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things that I have no control over.
Praying is the best response for me when I am pushed beyond my limits.
I know that when I cannot pray, You listen to my heart anyway. Continue to use me to do Your will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak... Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those that are lost and for those who cannot find their way. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who do not know You intimately. I pray for those that will delete this without sharing it with others. I pray for those that do not believe.
Nevertheless, I thank you that I believe.
I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member and their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes and that they are out of debt and all their needs are met. I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God.
Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.
Just repeat this phrase and see how God moves! My Lord, I love you and I need you, come into my heart, please. Know that the person who sent this to you continually prays for you. That would be me.....
A TALE FOR A BREEDER
I love my little puppy, he makes my house a home, he always is my best friend, I never feel alone. He makes me smile, he makes me laugh, he fills my heart with love. Did some breeder breed him? Was he sent from heaven above?
I've never been a breeder, or seen life through their eyes. I hold my little puppy, just sit and criticize. I've never known their anguish, I've never felt their pain, the caring of their charges, through snow or wind or rain. I've never waited all night long for puppies to be born, the stress and trepidation when they're still not there by dawn...
I've never felt the heartache of a little life in my hands, a darling little puppy who weighs just a few grams!! Should you do this instead of that? Or just pray to God? Alone you fight, and hope one day he'll grow into a dog, bring joy to another being and make a house a home. You know it's all just up to you, you fight this fight alone.
Formula, bottles, heating pads, you've got to get this right. Two hourly feeds for this little mite throughout the day and night. In your heart you know it, you'll surely lose the fight to save this little baby, but God willing, you just might save the little mite....
Day one he's in there fighting. You say a silent prayer. Day two and three he's doing well, with lots of loving care. Day four and five - he's still alive your hopes soar to the heavens! Day six he slips away again, dies in your hands day seven.
You take this little angel and bury him alone, with aching heart and burning tears, (and an exhausted groan). You ask yourself, Why do this? Why suffer all the pain? But seeing the joy that puppies bring - it really self explains! So, when you think of breeders and label them with 'greed'. Think what they sometimes endure to fill another's need.
And when you buy a puppy, with dollars and cents you part. You only pay with money ......We pay with our hearts.
On watching our beloved Dobermans ~ Dogs grow old...
Boy he's not looking too good today.
The steroids really made him act like he did 3 or 4 months ago; this is great!
He is not able to hold his bladder (because of the steroids). This is hard for him. He knows he shouldn't be having accidents in the house. It embarrasses him. He is so proud.
The heck with the Steroids. They are fixing one problem but causing him too many other problems. It's not worth it (for him.)
Now he can't walk up stairs again.
God he's getting worse again. I know I am going to have to make the decision. I can't even think about it!
I don't mind picking him up and carrying him down the steps to the front yard so he can relieve himself. I have to steady him. His old legs are a little wobbly.
"How do I know what day is going to be THE DAY"? Look at the way he looks at me. Do I wake up one morning and decide, "today is the day I am going KILL my dog, to be a cold hearted S.O.B. and call the vet"? No. I don't mind carrying him outside. It's not so hard and I really don't mind cleaning up after him in the house, it's not like he meant to do it.
God, he fell down the steps again. That really hurt him. He still has the heart but the body is gone.
Am I keeping him alive for myself or for him?
Shit, he can't even get up this morning. He was forced to lie in a pool of urine all night because he couldn't move. Today is the day. Thank God my vet will come to the house.
The vet is here and I don't have the guts to watch this. I give him one last hug. I have to leave the house crying like a baby. Thank God for my ex-wife. She held him until the end.
Every now and then when things slow down I find myself thinking of our times together. It almost always brings a lump to my throat and quite often a tear to my eye.
We sure had some good times.
It's been 11 months and 6 days. As I wrote this I started to cry again. I can't help it. Who cares? Not me!! I still miss him and think about him every day when I look at his pictures in my bedroom.
Death Is Nothing At All
I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you used to. Put no difference in your tone, wear no false air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Let my name be ever the household name it ever was, let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was: there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
"All is well." Henry Scott Holland 1847-1918
Where to Bury A Dog
If you bury him in this spot, he will come to you when you call. Come to you over the grim, dim frontiers of death, and down the well remembered path to your side again. And though you call a dozen living dogs to heel, they shall not growl at him, nor resent his coming, for he belongs there. People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall, who hear no whimper, people who may never really have had a dog. Smile at them for you shall know something that is hidden from them and which is well worth the knowing. The one best place then to bury a dog, is in the HEART of his master. ~author unknown~
